NatBur's TVRenamer

After unsuccessfully searching around the web to find something that did everything I wanted and that I didn't have to babysit or change my file/folder structure to get to work, I gave up and wrote my own.  So here it is, NatBur's TVRenamer.  It's the TV episode renamer that does everything that you could want, and probably a few things you didn't even know you wanted!

Requires the .Net Framework version 2.0

  • Monitor folder for new files
  • Can handle a vast number of file naming schems
  • Automatically download episode titles from the web
  • Customizable renaming mask allows any renaming pattern
  • Automatically move renamed files to seperate folders based on series title
  • Undo any renaming action
  •  Scan individual folders without interfering with the folder monitoring

For those of you who are wondering why my rapid development seems to have stopped lately.  The answer is, it hasn't.

As anyone who as perused the code on the SVN knows, the existing codebase was never designed to handle the majority of the features that I've worked into it over the last couple months.  This latest release is an excellent example of the growing pains that I've been experiencing with each successive release.  The solution, while simple, isn't quick.  The current codebase will see no new features.  I will continue to fix major bugs in the 0.4.6.x release, but the majority of my development time has been going into the release.  This release is a total departure from the existing codebase.  While, on the surface, things will look and behave relatively the same, under the hood basically everything has changed.  The new codebase is based on plug-ins, rather than hard-coding everything into the program.  Currently, I'm about 60% done with the core of the program.  Once that's done, I'll get to work on the plug-ins, which should go significantly faster than the core.  Here's a few early screenshots:

If any developers out there are curious, there are nine plug-in types and four file types.  There is support for an infinite number of plug-ins of each type, and each plug-in specifies a list of supported file types.  Once I'm sure that the API is finalized, I'll post a link to the API source (for now, documentation will come later).  The source for the main program and all my plug-ins will be released simultaneously with the executable.
